Ukraines new rules for responsible gaming took effect last month, following approval from the Ministry of Justice.
The country’s regulatory body, the Gambling and Lottery Regulatory Commission (KRAIL), initially unveiled these guidelines in June.
These regulations encompass limitations on bonuses for existing participants. Operators are mandated to “refrain from presenting players with any bonus payments, and/or supplying goods or services through incentives, the provision of which is directly or indirectly linked to the player’s financial losses in a specific game.”
This implies that operators are prohibited from offering bonuses to players for experiencing financial losses, nor can they connect bonuses to such losses.
All participants must also have the ability to exclude themselves and establish deposit restrictions. Moreover, players must be able to monitor the amount of time they have dedicated to gambling.
Operators are obligated to provide training for their staff to recognize the definition and potential indicators of problematic gambling.
These rules received approval from the Ministry of Justice on August 11th and are now officially registered and in force immediately.
Ethical gaming is a fundamental principle for structuring and managing gambling operations. This entails taking steps to prevent and lessen the negative effects of individual gambling, as well as measures to assist players in managing their own involvement, KRAIL declared.
Adhering to these ethical gaming principles helps enhance the organization’s standing among players.
These regulations were implemented following Ukraine’s re-legalization of various forms of gambling last year through the passage of the Gambling Act.
KRAIL has been in the headlines recently due to controversy. Last month, the regulator’s former leader was apprehended. Authorities assert that he received a $90,000 bribe in exchange for issuing gambling permits.
