Chilean authorities have released responsible gaming recommendations for players in response to the surge of gambling in the nation.
The Chilean gaming regulatory body – the Gaming Authority – has published a collection of safety rules for players in response to the rise in gambling activity in the South American country.
The new ten principles of responsible gaming were created in collaboration with the Responsible Gaming Company and the Gaming Authority, and aim to provide players with counsel and direction to ensure they gamble responsibly.
The advice for players includes: “When you participate, choose to play for enjoyment, not to win. Remember you cannot control the result of the game. Resolve your issues before you play; if you play to escape them, you may forget them momentarily, but the problems will persist.”
The rules were unveiled to the public at a press conference, where it was declared that total gambling earnings in casinos in July 2021 was $25.5 million.
The Responsible Gaming Company and the Gaming Authority stated in a declaration: “These ten principles are intended to provide advice to those who visit gaming rooms to promote healthy and preventative gaming.”
These ten rules are a key part of a comprehensive strategy that government overseers are implementing to ensure gambling is conducted ethically. This strategy was developed in response to the rapid expansion of the nation’s gambling sector, and the government is committed to fostering its growth in a responsible manner. Recognizing that this extends beyond casinos, they are taking a holistic approach and planning for the long haul.
In July, individuals spent a combined $25.5 million on gambling, a significant increase from the $3.8 million spent in June. This surge is attributed to the reopening of more venues following the easing of pandemic restrictions. While this represents only 58% of July 2019 spending, it’s remarkably close to the daily revenue generated by casinos in July 2019.
In July 2021, 202,569 individuals visited 20 casinos. This represents just 42.4% of the visitor count in July 2019. Due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, there are still limitations on casino capacity.
Since 2019, the number of individuals seeking self-exclusion from gambling has risen by 62%. Currently, 1,579 individuals are on this list.
