The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has instructed internet service providers (ISPs) to prohibit access to four additional gambling websites, which the organization asserts have been operating illicitly in Australia.
The ACMA scrutinized Bao Casino, Pokie Place, Reels of Joy, and Ozwin Casino following the receipt of numerous grievances concerning the four sites.
The ACMA ascertained that each website contravened the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 and mandated ISPs to obstruct access to the sites within the nation.
“Blocking websites presents a valuable chance to increase awareness of unlawful gambling services by displaying messages when individuals attempt to access the sites,” the ACMA stated.
“The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service appears authentic, it is improbable to possess significant consumer protection mechanisms in place. This signifies that Australians utilizing illegal gambling services are at risk of financial losses.”
Since the ACMA initially introduced blocking requests in November 2019, 263 illicit gambling websites have been blocked, while over 130 websites have withdrawn from the Australian market since the agency commenced enforcing new illicit offshore gambling regulations in 2017.
In the month of March, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) mandated the restriction of access to ten additional online gambling platforms, encompassing Play Croco, Aussie Play, Golden Reels, and All Spins Win. This directive followed a comparable order issued in February, which resulted in the blocking of eighteen other internet gambling sites.
