The Australian regulatory body for communications and media, known as the ACMA, has taken action against four more illicit overseas gaming platforms, requesting that Australian internet providers restrict access to them.

These platforms, identified as BaoBo Entertainment City, Slot Paradise, Happy Reels, and Aowin Entertainment City, were scrutinized following numerous complaints received by the ACMA. The inquiry determined that these entities were functioning in breach of the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act.

This measure is part of a broader initiative launched in November 2019. Since then, the ACMA has effectively blocked a total of 263 unlawful gaming websites. Moreover, tighter regulations implemented in 2017 have compelled over 130 illicit gambling operators to completely withdraw from the Australian market.

Website blocking is just one method in the ACMA’s toolkit for upholding gambling regulations. By implementing this step, the ACMA seeks to enhance public understanding of the hazards associated with illegal gambling operations. When an individual attempts to visit one of these restricted sites, they will encounter a cautionary message, acting as a clear reminder of the legal consequences involved.
