MGM Resorts has secured a significant sponsorship agreement with Ascot Racecourse, taking on the title sponsorship for the esteemed Clarence House Chase Day. This exciting event is scheduled for Saturday, January 20th.

The partnership gives MGM naming privileges to several prominent races, most notably the Grade 1 MGM Clarence House Chase, boasting a substantial purse of £175,000 (approximately $223,000 USD). This race consistently attracts elite horses, with former victors including Altior, Andeskrew, and the iconic speedster, Sprinter Sacre. This year’s contest is anticipated to be captivating, with racing giants Jonbon and El Fabio, trained by racing legends Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins respectively, poised for a showdown.

MGM’s presence extends beyond the main attraction, sponsoring five additional races throughout the day, including the Grade 2 MGM Mares’ Hurdle (Registered as The Warfield), offering a prize of £60,000.

The 2024 MGM Clarence House Chase Day will showcase a total of seven races with an unprecedented combined prize fund of £415,000. This represents a notable 13% rise from the £366,400 offered in 2022, establishing a new benchmark for the occasion.

Sam Behar, Director of MGM Resorts UK, conveyed his excitement, remarking, “We are delighted to collaborate with Ascot Racecourse for this distinguished event. To be the title sponsor of such a prominent race day is a genuine privilege and further showcases our dedication to horse racing. We eagerly await the day’s races and look forward to what guarantees to be an exhilarating battle between Jonbon and El Fabio!”

Ascot Racecourse’s Commercial Director and Deputy CEO, Felicity Barnard, shared her enthusiasm for the addition of BetMGM to the Ascot roster as a race day partner. She stressed the value of this alliance and their anticipation for a close working relationship throughout the BetMGM Clarence House Chase.

Barnard underscored BetMGM’s contribution as vital in providing unparalleled prize funds for the day’s races. She further emphasized the significance of the BetMGM Clarence House Chase as a pinnacle event of the season, predicting a high-level contest this year.

This news comes on the heels of BetMGM’s recent agreement for naming rights with the Premier League Darts championship earlier this month.
